A slit is placed on the platform of the overhead projector, and a holographic grating is positioned on the upper exit lens of the projector. Filters can be placed on the slit to see their spectra on a screen.

The pictures show the spectrum of white light (left) and the spectra of red, green, and blue filters with a full white light spectrum between each filter (right).
